The PPA Foundation is a partner with the industry and academia to enhance the perennial industry through research and education. The foundation was established in 2001 by the Perennial Plant Association as a non-profit organization. The PPA Foundation is funded through the generosity of individuals and corporations who share the common belief that their gifts are vital to enhance the future of the herbaceous perennial industry.

The mission of the PPA Foundation is to obtain funding to provide student scholarships and research grants to enhance the herbaceous perennial industry.

The goals of the PPA Foundation are to

• To provide educational scholarships and grants for horticulture students.
• To fund research projects that would benefit the herbaceous perennial industry.
• To disseminate information to members about herbaceous perennial research.
• To increase PPA Foundation assets so that interest generated can be used to fund research and educational opportunities.

The PPA Foundation Enhances the Perennial industry by providing money to support the PPA National Scholarship Fund and PPA Research Grants.

The PPA National Scholarship Fund

The PPA National Scholarship Fund aids college students who are seeking a career in horticulture or a related area with a particular emphasis on perennials. Five $1,000 scholarships are granted annually. The scholarship also allows recipients to attend the yearly PPA Symposium, covering registration and lodging costs.

The PPA Research Grant

The PPA Research Grant provides funding for research projects that benefit the herbaceous perennial industry. Grants are also awarded for research projects on related subjects such as cultural practices and propagation techniques.

Make a Donation

The PPA Foundation solicits donations using various means, including mailings, newsletters and a silent auction held during the yearly PPA Symposium.

You can support the PPA Foundation through pledges, annual gifts and by supporting the PPA Foundation fundraising activities. The PPA Foundation is an Ohio non-profit tax-exempt corporation. Gifts to the Foundation may qualify for a charitable income tax deduction for those who itemize.

Annual Giving

The PPA Foundation Annual Fund provides unrestricted support through gifts of cash, securities and other means, ensuring the continued growth and success of the Foundation. This enables the Foundation to respond to new opportunities and challenges.

Donor Recognition
The PPA Foundation recognizes Annual Donors in the following ways:

• Gold Level - Members donate $5,000 or more per year
• Silver Level - Members commit $1,000-$4,999 per year
• Bronze Level - Members commit $500-$999 per year

Planned Giving

A planned gift to the PPA Foundation is an excellent way to show your support. Planned gift arrangements can provide income and tax advantages to donors and their heirs by addressing the donor’s current needs as well as the future needs of the Foundation.  Planned gifts are important in order to continue the impact of the PPA Foundation in the future.
