HARDINESS	Zones 4-8 In colder areas, a winter mulch is beneficial.
LIGHT	Full sun preferred.
SOIL	Average to dry garden soil. Will withstand drought once established. Dislikes winter wet.
USES	As a specimen, in borders, or massed.
UNIQUE QUALITIES	A wonderful late-spring blooming perennial, 2-2 1/2 feet tall. Rigid spikes of dark blue-black flowers appear over aromatic blue-gray leaves in May and June.
PLANTING INFORMATION	Bare root plantings are most successful in early spring. Potted plants may be planted at any time in the growing season. Plant at the same depth as they wer in the pot. Water well until plants are established.
PROPAGATION	Propagate either by division or vegetative cuttings.
